A historic medical technology event - the world's first remote transatlantic Focal One robotic procedure!
The Focal One Global team is proud to announce an incredible achievement: surgeons at Cleveland Clinic recently performed the first remote transatlantic robotic procedure using the Focal One Robotic HIFU system.
Details of the procedure:
The patient was treated at Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi, UAE, using the Focal One Robotic HIFU system. The surgical procedure was supervised by Dr. Waleed Hassen, a urologic surgeon at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, who was directly in the operating room.
Ruben Olivares, MD, a urologic surgeon from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA, connected to the Focal One system remotely using an EDAP workstation and managed the procedure in real time from over 11,000 kilometers away.
International team comment:

This achievement is a primary step towards the realization of remote surgical interventions that will allow Focal One Robotic HIFU specialists to interact with medical centers around the world, promoting training and mentoring, and expanding the opportunities for patients to access quality care.
